Lenovo has several laptops with an interesting dual screen feature. For example, there is the ThinkPad X1 Fold which has an OLED screen that can be folded, the ThinkBook Plus Twist with the addition of an e-ink screen, and the ThinkPad W700ds with a second screen that can be shifted.
Now Lenovo presents the Yoga Book 9i as one of the latest generation of 2-in-1 laptops that is based on the fusion design of its predecessor’s 2-in-1 laptops, and even better. Despite measuring 13.3 inches, this laptop offers a wide view. The top screen works as usual, but the bottom screen can be used as a second monitor or input device.
With two screens on a laptop, it really makes a difference. We no longer need to carry portable monitors when traveling or to events. Those who often use a computer with two monitors at home will already know how useful this feature is when traveling.
Lenovo creates a luxurious appearance by using polished and curved aluminum material around the chassis, like looking at the design of the iPhone 8 or iPhone X but present in a laptop. This curved design also seems to give a new style that is unique and more comfortable to hold as a 2-in-1 laptop.
Both of these screens can be touched or touchscreen, and both have a glossy surface so that this laptop can easily leave fingerprints. However, this design has several advantages and high flexibility when you use this device as a 2-in-1 laptop.
The Lenovo Yoga Book 9i has a unique base or stand that can be folded to resemble a magnetic pyramid shape. This design allows the laptop to stand upright and stable with both screens. After using this laptop for a few weeks, we are very impressed with its design.
Thanks to the HDR-500 certification, you can enjoy a wider color gamut than most other laptops. This makes both stills and videos look amazing. This screen is also accurate enough for content creation purposes, even if you want to edit photos or videos at 1080p resolution or lower for platforms like YouTube or other social media.
The screen sharpness is excellent, with a pixel density of around 255 pixels per inch which exceeds the density of the Apple MacBook Pro’s Retina display and is nearly equivalent to a 4K screen on a larger 16-inch laptop. The total number of pixels on this screen is over 10.3 million, which is two million more than a 4K screen which has around 8.3 million pixels.
The Lenovo Yoga Book 9i is equipped with a 13th generation Intel Core processor which has 10 cores with a maximum turbo speed of up to 5GHz. This laptop has also received Intel EVO certification. The RAM used is LPDDR5X 6400 MHz. As for storage, there is a PCIe Gen 4 SSD with a capacity of 1TB.
The Intel Core i7-1355U processor which has a total of 10 cores with a maximum turbo speed of up to 5GHz looks good on paper, but only two cores are used for high performance, while the rest are more efficient cores.
The Lenovo Yoga Book 9i is equipped with a 5MP camera that has a Time of Flight (ToF) and Ambient Light sensor. The presence of this sensor allows the laptop to detect the presence of the user in front of it. The camera is paired with two microphones with Noise Cancellation technology which are located on the right and left sides.
This 5MP camera is capable of taking pictures with an aspect ratio of 4:3. The video recording capability is 1440P @ 30 FPS. There are other unique features such as Zero Touch Login, Zero Touch Lock, and Zero Touch Video Playback which make it easier for users to access their laptops.
This laptop is also equipped with an audio solution from Bowers & Wilkins and supports Dolby Atmos technology. The number of speakers installed is not just two, but four speakers. Two tweeters are located on the screen hinges or Rotating Soundbar facing directly to the user, while two woofers produce sound to the right and left.
There is also Dolby Access software provided for changing sound profiles and equalizer settings.
In addition, there are 3 USB Type-C Thunderbolt 4 ports, one on the left side and two on the right side of the body. All three ports can be used for power using the included 65W GaN charger, although, with 9-10 hours of battery life, you’re probably safe leaving your charger at home most days.
